The next generation of Grey Faced Petrels has hatched! James Russell from the University of Auckland visited Okewa Reserve and banded this beauty in early September. It will live in its burrow and grow until late December / early January when it will fledge its nest and head off in the wide world. Unfortunately last year, the chick in this same burrow was taken by a ferret and didn't make it. STNN are continuing to monitor the burrow with CCTV and a trapping programme is in progress.
